Over 200 Million+ Chinese Citizens Records for Sale on the Darkweb

The cybersecurity researchers has discovered in daily routine monitoring that several posts are specifically being sold by hackers on the Dark web. The hackers have been selling all the alleged data leaks that are associated with the Chinese citizens.

According to the report that has been affirmed by the experts, asserts that all these leak data might have been stolen from various popular Chinese services that include Gongan County, Weibo, and QQ.

Leaks related to Gongan County, Weibo, and QQ

All the leaks that have been sold by the threat actors might be related to Gongan county, Weibo, QQ, and here we have mentioned them below:-

Gongan County is a county situated in southern Hubei province, People’s Republic of China, and it has been bordering Hunan to the south. The hackers have leaked data of 999 household registrations of the citizens of China from the Gong’an county.

Weibo is one of the famous social platforms; it is based on fostering user connections to administer, distribute, and to receive data. Users can easily upload pictures, videos through either the website or the mobile app. Apart from this, the security experts were detected that the threat actors were selling 41.8 million stolen records of the users on a cybercrime forum.

QQ is another famous application that is produced by the Chinese tech giant Tencent for instant messaging services. Moreover, QQ allows services that implement online social games, music, shopping, microblogging, movies, and group and voice chat software. And here, the security experts were detected that the threat actors were selling the stolen data of 192 Million Chinese users on the DarkWeb.

Security precautions

The security experts have mentioned some precautionary ways to prevent cyber-attacks, and here we have mentioned below:-

  • Never tap on the unverified/unidentified links.
  • Do not open anonymous email attachments.
  • Download all the media from sites that you trust.
  • Never use unknown USBs.
  • Always apply security software and keep it updated.
  • Backup your data regularly.
  • Prefer unique passwords.
  • Keep Software and Systems always up to date.
  • Train employees regarding Cyber Security.
  • Set up a Firewall for your internet.
  • Always Update your passwords regularly.
