Recently, the United States companies issued a joint advisory notice the world regarding the ‘significant cyber threat’ professed by North Korean state-sponsored hackers to global banking and financial organizations.
Thus, the U.S. government is ready to pay up to $5 million for data on North Korea’s hackers and their continuing hacking operations.
Well, the reward for informing North Korean hackers were declared today in a joint report that was issued by the Departments of State, Treasury, Homeland Security, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
However, the advisory involves mitigation actions that the international community, network supporters, and the public can take protection against state-sponsored hacking clubs supported by North Korea, trailed by the U.S., below the HIDDEN COBRA moniker.
As per the joint report, “The DPRK’s ill-disposed cyber activities endanger the United States and the wider international community and, in distinct, profess an important threat to the honesty and stability of the international financial order.”
Cyber Operations Publicly Attributed to DPRK by U.S. Govt.:-
Well, the DPRK has frequently targeted the U.S. and other government and militant networks, as well as networks associated with private articles and significant foundation, to steal information and manage disruptive and devastating cyber activities.
Till the date, the U.S. government has openly accused the following cyber conflicts to DPRK state-sponsored cyber hackers and co-conspirators:-
- $81 million Bangladesh Bank Heist
- Sony Pictures hack in 2014.
- FASTCash Campaign: Fraudulent ATM cash withdrawal scheme.
- Digital Currency Exchange Hack, total $250 million theft.
- WannaCry 2.0, the global ransomware outbreak.
However, the U.S. government stated that these hacks are now posturing “a significant threat to the honesty and stability of the worldwide financial system.”
Thus, the report suggests the financial firms and businesses and other different industries reinforce protections against North Korea’s hacker associations vertically.
Well, the connections to U.S. government sources linked to DPRK cyber threats so firms can look into and take further steps to ensure their I.T. infrastructure upon known North Korean malware and hacking methods.
Moreover, the U.S. government also published strict advice to companies that may be battling with North Korean entities and maybe, directly or indirectly, supporting North Korean hackers launder looted funds. Well, the outcomes, commands, and apprehending of funds and assets.
